According to CreditKarma, credit unions are “financial institutions, like banks, except the members own the credit union…[they] offer better savings rates, lower loan rates and reduced fees because of this” (Cothern 2019). They care about and view their members as people, and not just as customers who have money for their own profits. Although you must meet the requirements to become a member, credit unions serve your community and remain local for your convenience.

In a sense, credit unions are a better investment than large banks, but it is up to the person to decide where they would like their money. In my experience, I can sense that employees at credit unions care about me, especially smaller branches – tone, body language, and a simple smile make all the difference in the world, and it really shows when an institutions care more about you than your money.
